The Most Obnoxious Post Ever

I have been applying for fellowships from the ACLS Mellon for years. They have never given me a penny. But every year, I write, edit, and re-edit my application to them, hoping that maybe this time, I'll get it right.

This year, glory of glories, I found an error on their site. For once, it's not that I forgot a semi-colon and hence didn't get funded (as if this is ever really the reason). Instead, they screwed up!

They write, "Endnotes or footnotes are not required for the writing sample, however, if included they should be in 10 point font and single-spaced, with double-spacing between entries."

Ha! Teaching writing has paid off! "However" is not a coordinating conjunction! I got them!

It's nice to find fault in those who have only found fault in you, but I don't think Nietzsche would be impressed by my feelings.
